Nurse with a Big Heart Featured Image

Donors to WE International were instrumental in constructing the WE Care Health Centre near Musima, Uganda. But the clinic would be nothing without a dedicated staff.

This week, we’d like to highlight Suzan Achen, who is one of those people whose presence instantly brings calm, hope, and warmth to the staff and patients at the center.

Suzan is holding Namulondo Phiona, a baby girl born at the Center a few weeks ago, weighing in at 3.7 kg (8 lbs. 3 oz.).

Suzan is a pioneer nurse on the WE Care team, holding a Certificate in Nursing and carrying more than 7 years of hands-on experience in serving communities with excellence and compassion.

Suzan walks long distances past sugarcane farms to make sure she reports for her shifts on time with a smile.

A Heart for Service

Even before the Health Center opened, Suzan served with WE International.  From the very beginning, Suzan has walked this journey with us. She has faithfully participated in all our major medical outreaches.

When the ministry called us to the hard-to-reach places, Suzan showed up, ready, committed, and smiling. She has gladly participated in outreaches to remote places like Lunyo, a small village in eastern Uganda, and the various islands in Lake Victoria with our friends at Islands of Hope.

Suzan’s love for people is not something she talks about; it’s something you feel. Her compassion speaks louder than words, and through her gentle care, patience, and dedication, she beautifully expresses the love of God to every patient she serves.

To her, nursing is not just a profession; it’s a calling.

The Woman Beyond the Uniform

Beyond the uniform, Suzan is a proud wife and a loving mother to a handsome boy. She balances family, faith, and full-time work at the WE Care Health Centre with grace and strength. And yes, she proudly loves being a woman with big dreams, bold aspirations, and a heart that believes tomorrow can be better.

Suzan Achen’s story is one of faithfulness, resilience, and purpose.

We celebrate her not just for what she does, but for who she is: a healer, a pioneer, a dreamer, and a blessing to everyone she encounters.

As you know, WE International is in the midst of a campaign to fund the completion of our campus. One of the ways you can help Suzan and other staff at the Center is to click on the Designated Gifts link and pay for specific needs at the clinic.

Any gift, small or large, will help WE International bring unconditional love, safety, and second chances to the most vulnerable women, children, and families in Eastern Uganda. These efforts rely solely on your contributions. When you donate using those links, your entire donation goes to further our efforts in Uganda.

Thank you!
