Patricia’s Story
Patricia Ajambo is a mother of three who has turned microfinance loans totaling $340 into a thriving business raising chickens (along with the occasional turkey) and growing cassava, a starchy staple in Eastern Uganda.
With a solid business plan and discipline, Patricia has gone beyond subsistence, to control her destiny. Patricia takes advantage of the markets, selling her cassava when the price is the highest. Her success has also allowed her to employ others in her village of Lunyo and send her three children to school.
Patricia has used the WE Empower loans to expand her poultry business, investing in a larger chicken coop.
During an interview, Patricia acknowledged the support she has received from the WE Empower program, but also thanked the Lord, saying:
“I thank God. We’ve been down, now we are growing, we are growing.”
