Weighing in at 3 kilos (6 pounds, 9 ounces), Namudama Eseza made her appearance this past Monday at 3 pm at the WE Care Ministries Health Centre in Kalungami Uganda. Baby Namudama is the first child to be born at the Health Centre that opened last month.

Baby Namudama’s 23-year-old mother, Magret Namuganza, received prenatal care at the Health Centre, and both mother and child will receive follow-up care there in the months ahead. The WE International Ugandan team also arranged for safe transportation for mother and child after deliver. Were it not for the Health Centre, this delivery would have occurred in a home in the village lacking both running water and electricity.
The Health Centre is equipped to handle standard deliveries, more precisely described as Spontaneous Vaginal Deliveries (SVDs). Had there been complications, the WE International Ugandan team would have transported Magret to the Klisper Pediatric Hospital, an obstetric and pediatric hospital in Jinja–about 8 miles away over rough dirt roads–with which the Health Centre has a referral relationship.
Of course, Magret and her family could not afford care at Klisper so WE International would have subsidized the cost of the care. This is the model of the WE Care Ministries Health Centre, provide primary health care at a reduced cost and, if necessary, arrange for more advanced care with other providers, subsidizing as needed.

WE International shows the love of Christ to the most vulnerable women, children, and families in Eastern Uganda, like Namudama Eseza.
